Military Service was not 100% voluntary until July of 1973 when the draft ended. Thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen have served our Country with sacrifice. Served and Not Forgotten is comprised of a small sample of these people who understand and would like to give back to some of our brothers that are a little less fortunate, or who have fallen on hard times and need a helping hand.
The Program
Step 1 – We collect money in various ways.
Step 2 – We identify veterans who have served and are in need.
FAQ’s
What % of the donations collected make it to a (the) Veteran?
100% of all contributions make its way to a local Veteran. All costs of running the organization are picked up by the Directors.
Criteria for Veterans?
We are focused on recently separated veterans who are experiencing a very high level of need – specifically for the fundamentals of life like a safe place to live, money for groceries, etc. While we are committed to helping all of our vets at all stages of recovery, we primarily support veterans in extreme situations of need.
How Many Veterans Does SANF Support?
It varies on an annual basis but our goal is to measurably impact the lives of 6 veterans each year. We work with each vet for an average of 6 months from initial contact to the end of our pledged assistance.
How does the nomination work?
You can go to the Nominate a Vet form and provide as much information as you can about the Veteran. One of our Directors or one of our Partners will reach out to either the nominee or the person that did the nomination, and will verify that 1) this person is indeed a Veteran and 2) determine the specific way that this person can be helped by us. Often times we provide the Veteran with financial assistance and will help him/her to find additional resources as well.
Are my donations deductible?
Yes. Served and Not Forgotten is a federally recognized 501c3 charity and all donations are tax deductible.
Can I donate other things like clothing, cars, real estate, etc?
Yes. Some items are more liquid than others to get to a Veteran. Please contact us with any formal questions.
